October 2026 News

Thanks to everyone who came out all last month for our momentum series! It was delightful to watch everyone progress through the month, and it felt like folks closed out the series with stronger partner connection and swing-outs.

This month we’re excited to announce Reno Swings! has rekindled its relationship with the UNR Wolf Pack Swing Dance Club! The club president reached out to us and they are hosting an open to the public social dance in the Rotunda. Be sure to check out the Local Dance Events section below for all the details!

Also in this newsletter you’ll find info about what’ll be shakin’ down during our weekly lessons at the American Legion Hall, upcoming opportunities to hit up the social floor out and about, and info about some amazing regional workshops!

Sharpen Those Skills

All month long the beginner lesson room focuses on a common dance concept. Attending all the beginner lessons in the month will help prepare you for the intermediate lesson which takes place on the last Wednesday of the month. The beginner room is still open for those who miss a lesson or don’t feel quite ready for the intermediate room at the end of the month.

For the month of October we’ll be focusing on 8 count moves! We’ll start off October with a lesson on side-by-side promenades, and progress to Sugar Pushes on the second Wednesday. The intermediate lesson on the last Wednesday of the month will feature a class on transitions between 6-count and 8-count moves. Get hyped!

Monthly Dress Up Theme Night!

Each month on the last Wednesday we’re inviting folks to dress for a theme. It’s Spooky Season, so obviously we’re inviting everyone to dust off the costume box and come dance in your Halloween costume! We wanna see your vampires, ghosts, and ghouls! Do make sure your costume is dance friendly – wings, big hats, and props can make things a bit complicated. Here’s a few fit pics if you’re in need of some inspiration:
