No partner, no experience? No problem!

Every Wednesday, we convene at the American Legion Hall in Reno to celebrate our love for swing dancing. If you wish to join us at Reno Swings!, we recommend that you bring:

  • A water bottle
  • A comfortable pair shoes
  • A towel/Change of clothes
  • An open mind
  • A positive attitude!

As of now, we don’t have an admission fee, but would encourage donations to help keep us running.

Drop-in Lessons (7 PM)

If you show up early, you may get a few things you can start with.
Jitterbug classes always start a bit late since we run on swing time.

We run an hour-long beginner Lindy Hop lesson just a little past 7 PM (since we run on swing time). No prior experience is necessary! Once the lesson ends, you will be ready to hit the dance floor and show off your moves!

We rotate our lessons and instructors so that there is something new to learn every week. Be sure to keep coming every week to learn more!

When you are ready to challenge yourself, every last Wednesday of the month* we run a separate concurrent beginner-intermediate class in the adjacent room. In these classes, you will learn higher level topics so that you can advance your skill set in Lindy Hop. We recommend at least 6-8 weeks of experience prior to attempting the beginner-intermediate class. No extra charges/expenses needed for this class.

*Availability of these classes will depend on instructor availability, attendance, and other proximal events. Follow us on social media to see when they will occur.

Drop-in Guided Practice (7 PM)

In tandem with our beginner lessons, we also have a drop-in guided practice room. On nights without a beginner-intermediate lesson, we will have a speaker set up in the other room with at least one of the non-teaching instructors stationed there.

If you have questions about the swing dancing that don’t require a fully-structured lesson, this would be ideal for you. Instead of going to the beginner lesson, you may opt for the practice room to practice what you need and get feedback with your dancing whenever a practice coach available to help. Or, you can also work on practicing your own material without the need of a coach to guide you. This is your chance to make your own lessons!

Social Dance (8 PM)

Behold: a typical night on the dance floor.

After the lesson, the lights dim, and then we enter our social dance. Now is your time to shine! Be sure to stick around at least until after the Shim Sham for announcements and any celebrations! Music is curated by a rotating staff of DJs.
