Thanks to everyone who came out all last month for our Charleston series! It was delightful to watch everyone progress through the month, and that Tandem Carleston intermediate lesson was so much fun!
This month’s newsletter you’ll find info about what’ll be shakin’ down during our weekly lessons at the American Legion Hall, upcoming opportunities to hit up the social floor out and about, and info about some amazing regional workshops!
Sharpen Those Skills
All month long the beginner lesson room focuses on a common dance concept. Attending all the beginner lessons in the month will help prepare you for the intermediate lesson which takes place on the last Wednesday of the month. The beginner room is still open for those who miss a lesson or don’t feel quite ready for the intermediate room at the end of the month.
For the month of September we’ll be focusing on Momentum! We’ll start off September with a lesson on stretch and compression to play with passing momentum from leader to follower, and progress to Sugar Pushes on the second Wednesday. The intermediate lesson on the last Wednesday of the month will feature a class on Swing Outs – they’re so much fun!

Regional Workshops
Camp Hollywood XXVIII
Camp Hollywood, running this year September 3rd through 7th, is one of the largest and longest running swing dance camps in the world. Since 1998 Camp Hollywood has been proud to offer the finest selection of international dance instructors, live music and competitors which provide a fun-filled long weekend with something for everyone! Classes are offered in Lindy Hop, Shag, Balboa, and various swing line dances in levels from Beginner to Advanced, a Solo Track, a Music Track, dance contests for all levels, after hours dancing, live music jams all over the hotel, and lots of spontaneous shenanigans! Beginning Swing Dance Workshop
Ready to try swing dancing? Join Midtown Stomp for a fun, beginning swing dance workshop on Saturday, September 19th! Whether you’re brand new to dancing, looking to refresh your basics, or finally bringing that friend you’ve been trying to get out dancing, this is the perfect place to start.
Ron and Amber will guide you through the foundations of swing dancing in a relaxed, easy-to-follow 3-hour workshop starting at 1 pm. By the end of the afternoon, you’ll be ready to hit the dance floor with confidence. We’re starting at the beginning so everybody’s on the same page.
