Special Classes in December on Wednesdays – Collegiate Shag (guest instructor) and Lindy Rueda We have a really special opportunity to take Collegiate Shag classes from champion shagger Amanda Pincock. She will be visiting from Austin Texas next week, and will be teaching two Collegiate Shag classes on Wednesday, December 4th. HERE is a little clip of Amanda in action. December 4th – Amanda will teach both an Intermediate Collegiate Shag class from 6-7 PM (Must know the basics to take this) and a beginning class from 7-8 PM (in place of our Lindy Hop series class). Each class is $10 (if you are in the intermediate class, we encourage you to stay for the beginning class free of charge). We will hold a drop-in Jitterbug class as usual at 7 PM, as well as dancing to follow. Lindy Rueda (2 week series- Dec. 11th & 18th) – We are excited to share Lindy Rueda again this year on December 11th and 18th at 7 PM. This is a group/partner dance… we use called Lindy Hop moves to switch partners. It’s lots of fun, and only requires knowledge of the Lindy Hop Swing Out to participate. HERE is a clip of one of our past Rueda classes performing. Cost is $10 per class, $7 for students. IF YOU REALLY WANT TO PARTICIPATE but don’t know the Swing Out (Lindy Hop basic step), we will teach a crash course from 6-7 PM on December 11th to get you up to speed. If you plan to come to that, please let Clay know so he can plan accordingly (you can reply to this email). We will also have Jitterbug Class and social dancing both of these weeks. 3. Blues Dancing – Little City Blues – Thursday, December 19th We had such a fun time with our blues crew in November that we got talked into doing a blues dance in December! Join us at Plaza Maya (1644 S Wells in Reno) on Thursday, Dec. 19th. Lesson starts at 7 PM with dancing following from 8-10 PM. This dance has no cover charge, but donations will be accepted… and we would love for you to support our venue by purchasing some food or drink. IN FACT, They are extending Happy Hour specials to us throughout the event (cheap street tacos, 2-for-1 margaritas, and more). Here is the event LINK if you want to RSVP or help spread the word! 4. Holiday Swing Dance Schedule As we mentioned, we ARE dancing TONIGHT. We will also hold dances the first 3 Wednesdays in December (Dec. 4th, 11th and 18th) – see Item #3 for details on special classes. We will be CLOSED on December 25th – no swing dance on that Wednesday. We will be OPEN on Wednesday January 1st with lessons and dancing. We will hold a blues dance at Plaza Maya on December 19th. We will NOT have a Taco Hop on the last Tuesday of December. Mark your calendars…. |
